When planning your trip do not forget to check whether you need a
Visa to enter the country. Finland is part of the Schengen area. The
other Schengen member states are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic,
Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy,
Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland,
Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

Getting around
Helsinki's public transportation system is of top quality and makes
it easy to get around with buses, trams, metro, commuter trains or
Suomenlinna ferries. You can choose from a variety of ticket options
to match your needs. Tourist tickets can be purchased between 1-,
3-, or 5-day tickets, and with it you can freely travel in all
vehicles.
Arriving in Helsinki by plane
International flights arrive at Helsinki/Vantaa Airport, about 19
kilometres from the city centre. To get to the city centre you can
either use public transportation (bus nr 615 to the Central Railway
Station (4 euros) or the Finnair City Bus (6 euros) or take an
airport taxi (1-2 persons some 25 euros) or a regular taxi (some
40-40 euros).

A surprise
The Opening Ceremony starting on Thursday, August 27 at 1pm sharp
will offer a surprise that cannot be disclosed until early
August. We kindly ask all participants to plan their trip so that
they can be seated in Auditorium 5 at 12.50 pm on that day.

Helsinki in August
In August the weather type in Helsinki can change quite rapidly even
during a single day. Temperatures can range between less than 15
degrees even up to 30. Also the weekly precipitation can vary from 0
up to 100 mm. On the average, every third day the daily precipitation
exceeds 0.1 mm. Rain is possible at all hours around the day, but in
the summer typical rain showers occurs in the afternoon.
