Jussi Piitulainen

I work in language technology. It used to be computational linguistics, but we changed the focus and the name years ago. I work in the Department of Modern Languages. It used to be the Department of General Linguistics, but we joined other, bigger departments to form an even bigger department.

My millstones

  1. I hack the corpora in The Language Bank of Finland, for Koskenniemi and Lindén, in CLARIN or Fin-CLARIN or some related project.
  2. As of November 2010, my PhD Thesis has passed the stringent language requirements of the faculty, with the help of a stringent second proofreader that they trust. The final title is Explorations in the distributional and semantic similarity of words. The defence date has been set.
  3. In my Master's Thesis (20th century) I expressed the general structure of various grammar formalisms in terms of compositions, concatenations, related closures, and intersections of simple relations of sets of strings of words. I think.

My dogness

I am a Schemer since R3RS. Now that R6RS has a library system, I have begun to put my thoughts in the form of a personal code library, (koiruus). It helps.
