STRUCTURE AND CONTEXT
Symposium to be held in Turku, in August 21-22, 2006
****Second Circular, August 15, 2006 ****
Dear Participants,
We are looking forward to meeting you all in Turku on the 21st of
August. This letter contains some up-to-date information about the
symposium.
PROGRAMME
The current version of the programme is available on our website
http://www.ling.helsinki.fi/sky/tapahtumat/context/context.shtml.
Due to some unfortunate cancellations, we have been obliged to reorganize
the programme to some extent. Please check your time of presentation
and let us know if you have any questions.
SOME RECOMMENDED PREPARATIONS
Please note that there will be no special abstract booklet. If
you wish to have the abstracts of the presentations on paper, you
should print them yourself from the file: http://www.ling.helsinki.fi/sky/tapahtumat/context/Abstracts.pdf.
If you have paid the registration fee in advance, please take the
receipt with you. If you plan to pay upon arrival, note that we
can only accept cash payment.
THE SOCIAL PROGRAM
Conference dinner will be on Monday evening (August 21) at the
restaurant Koulu (School) at 7pm. We have reserved 25 places for
the buffet, which costs roughly 20 € per person (please consult
the menu in the end of this message). If you want to join the dinner,
please email us by Thursday August 17 the latest (but please be
careful not to reply to the participants-list!). If more than 25
want to join, we might be able to reserve more places for those
wanting to come. Dinner registration and payment will be handled
at the registration desk.
INFORMATION FOR THOSE GIVING A PRESENTATION
When taking copies of your handouts, please note that the total
number of participants is around 70, and there are three parallel
sessions (of which one is a workshop). There is a data projector,
an overhead projector and a blackboard in the lecture rooms. If
you need any other equipment, please let us know in advance. Please
remember that your presentation should not exceed 20 minutes (+10
minutes for discussion). We have allocated 5 minutes for participants
to move across sections.
OPEN BOOK EXHIBITION
We encourage you to bring copies of yours or your close colleagues'
latest publications. Don't be modest and don't hesitate to bring
your publications with you! The book exhibition will give us all
a good possibility to learn more about current developments in the
field.
WEATHER IN FINLAND
The weather is unpredictable in Finland. In August, we may still
have quite pleasant summer weather, but be also prepared for relatively
low temperatures, rainy days and cool nights!

If you have any questions, please use the address of the organizing
committee, as before. Looking forward to seeing you in a week,
