  • Practical work: FOP Ant task
    • There is no FOP plugin for jEdit. We will use a FOP Ant task that converts XSL-FO to PDF. We'll run the FOP Ant task using jEdit's AntFarm plugin.
    • Make subfolders "in", "out", "lib" and "xslt" in your Windows folder.
Copy Pawson's example XML document doc1.xml to "in".
Copy Pawson's example stylesheet doc1-fo.xsl to "xslt".
Copy all the jar files from this FOP/lib directory into your "lib".
    • In jEdit's XSLT plugin panel, transform doc1.xml using doc1-fo.xsl.
Save the output in "out" as doc1.fo. Open doc1.fo in jEdit and study it.
    • Copy the Apache Ant buildfile clt236-fop-build.xml to your Windows folder.
In jEdit's AntFarm panel, add this file to the list of buildfiles, and click on it to expand the list of targets. Click on the "FOPAntTask" target to run it.
    • The FOP Ant task converts all XSL-FO files in "out" into PDF files.
Check if doc1.pdf exists in "out", and view it with Adobe Reader.
    • Copy Pawson's other examples doc2.xml to "in" and doc2-fo.xsl to "xslt".
In jEdit's AntFarm panel, run FOP Ant task again and view the results.
