The Eight International Workshop on Finite-State Methods and Natural
Language Processing (FSMNLP 2009) will take place at the University of
Pretoria, Republic of South Africa from July 21 through July 24, 2009.

FSMNLP 2009 will be held at the Student Graduate Centre of the
University of Pretoria's main campus. Postproceedings with revised and
re-reviewed versions of papers from the workshop will be published as
a Springer LNCS/LNAI volume.

Early registration deadline: June 26
Workshop dates: July 21 - 24

PROGRAM DETAILS

The scientific program of the conference will include three tutorials,
four invited talks, thirteen regular paper presentations and six
extended abstract presentations. The sessions with regular paper and
extended abstract presentations include special sessions on
Finite-State Methods for African and other Under-Resourced/Low-Density
Languages, Practical Aspects and Experience of Finite-State Methods
and Systems, and Tree Automata & Transducers.

TUTORIALS
- Developing Computational Morphology for Low- and Middle-Density
  Languages, Kemal Oflazer (Sabanci University, Turkey)
- Machine Learning with Automata, Colin de la Higuera (Jean Monnet
  University, Saint-Etienne, France)
- OpenFST in Depth, Johan Schalkwyk (Google, USA)
